So you know you're not a first time parent when you just have a family gathering for your child's first birthday. With Brian I think we invited somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 people - a little crazy, I know. All that stress for something he will never remember.
So for Colin's birthday we went down to my parents' house for the day. Lori, Lou and Baby Kelsey came over to help celebrate as well.
We started the afternoon with a ride on Grampa's boat. Colin loves the wind whipping through his hair - what there is of it anyway!
How big is Colin? As big as his cousin Kelsey who is 8 months his junior!
We moved on to the presents. Daddy helped at first.
Thanks for the cute outfit and book of shapes, Uncle Michael and Aunt Jennifer!
Ooh, this is kind of fun.
Loving on his Haba teether (made in Germany!) and checking out the cool truck Grampa & Gramma gave him.
"Happy Birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy Birthday dear Colin. Happy Birthday to you!" Make a wish!
Publix gives each baby a free 7" single layer cake for their first birthday. This is what Colin's looked like before we gave it to him.
Ah, the first touch.
Hmm...not so sure I like the feeling of this icing.
I changed my mind. This stuff is pretty good.
Let me take that back. This is REALLY good! And this picture doesn't even really capture just how covered in icing Colin ended up being. Add some red icing to his entire face and all over his hair and you just might be able to imagine how "sweet" he was that night!
