Lenten Prayer/Penance/Alms Giving Plan

With Ash Wednesday rapidly approaching, here is my plan for this year's Lenten season.

Prayer
1. I will attend Mass on either Wednesday or Thursday mornings (whichever day works with Chris' work schedule)
2. Pray the Rosary twice daily - once in the morning, and my regular evening prayers
3. Read about the life of St. Louis de Montfort
4. Pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet - I've never prayed this before so I am looking forward to adding this to my spiritual life.
5. I got this idea from Matilda over at Waltzing Matilda - learn Stabat Mater Dolorosa

Penance
1. No Starbucks
2. No "full-sugar" drinks (ie. regular Coke)
3. Join my husband in his no-meat Wednesdays
4. Since I'm breastfeeding and should not fast, on days of fasting I will still abstain from meat, but I will not get on the computer all day.

Alms Giving
1. Call both of my grandmothers - one each week
2. Spend at least 1/2 hour a day just snuggling/reading/talking with each child on their own -special "mommy" time.

I know of ONE grandmother that is really going to enjoy your alms giving. This is such a great thing for both YOU and HER.

Did you know that at Starbucks you can order any drink with sugar free syrup and skim milk. It really reduces the calories of the drink and you really can't taste the difference. I tried it the other day with hot chocolate. It tasted really great. This is helpful for after Lent if you want to go back to Starbucks.
