Tiger Woods ain't got nothin on my boy!

The other weekend we were at Club McDonald, and Gramma surprised Brian and Sean with some golf clubs. There's a "bag" and 3 clubs as well as 3 balls and some "holes" with flags. I wasn't sure how the boys would do trying to connect with a little ball on the ground.

Sean wasn't big on having his daddy help him - he wanted to do it himself!
Much to our surprise and delight, Brian rocked at hitting the ball. He even has a great grip and swing!
And while sitting in the gallery, Gramma told Brian that he can buy her a really big house one day when he makes it big!

Huh???

The other night while Chris was out of town, this is what I walked in to find at 11pm.....

And yes, Sean actually was asleep!

Play Ball - or "What we did for the 4th of July"

The Fourth of July started out a little more humid that the previous days had been - I mean, come on, it's July already, what should one expect here? We had tickets to see a minor league baseball game that evening with some friends and Grampa.

By late afternoon, terrible thunderstorms were racing across the area - sightings of tornadoes were abounding as well as nickel sized hail! I grabbed the phone and called down to the stadium to make sure the game was still on before we headed out there. The woman who answered the phone seemed a little puzzled by my questions and told me that the game was still on.

When we got to the stadium it was apparent why she was confused by my question. It was beautiful. A few scattered high clouds, no humidity, sun shining down on the fans and players. It was a perfect evening for a baseball game. Brian and Sean were a little more restless at this game than they were the week before, but all in all, they had a fabulous time. Brian kept wanting the players to "hit the ball to me", so he could catch it in his mitt. Sean spent the majority of the game on his Grampa's lap. Colin is starting to teethe, as evidenced by the constant hand in the mouth position he now assumes.

And the fireworks at the end of the game were spectacular - a fitting tribute to our country and our freedom.

Independence Day 2007

The Fourth of July is a wonderful holiday. It reminds us of the freedom that is ours by the grace of God, and defended by our men and women in uniform as well as in the intelligence field. Sometimes those in the intelligence community are not given credit for their role in protecting our freedom. Many times they are held accountable for the mistakes, but many, many lives have been saved by these brave men and women who work behind the scenes. Their victories will go unpublished, but please say a prayer for these men and women as you remember your freedom.

The holiday began for us on the 3rd of July. Our "town" puts on a wonderful celebration that evening. This year we were joined by some of the Foss children - whom I lovingly refer to as
The "Fosslings"
My kids just adore these children and had a great time running around with them during and after the fireworks display. In addition to the fun, I managed to work in a vocabulary lesson for Nicholas it seems. He was concerned that we were facing the wrong direction to watch the fireworks since someone shot off a firework on the golf course behind us. I reassured him that it was just a "random" firework, not the official ones, and that it is actually "illegal" to shoot off the big fireworks unless you are trained to do so. Elizabeth told me that when he came home he was telling her all about the "random, and illegal" fireworks, and how they were just so "random" and very "illegal". Who knew I'd be teaching at 10pm?

Colin at 7 months

Okay, so I totally missed posting about Colin at 6 months - bad mommy. So here's the skinny (literally) on Col Kel, as we affectionately call the little man...

At his 6 month check-up, Colin dropped of the chart for weight. He was hugging the 5th percentile line there for awhile, but back in June he just leveled off. Now, none of my boys are behemoths, but the doctor want to bring him back in for a weight check in about a week (at Brian's 4 year well check). So I've been feeding this boy like crazy! Nursing, nursing, nursing. Chris will come in the room and say, "Again?" - the boy needs some meat on his bones! Say a quick prayer, if you don't mind, that everything is fine with my little man.

Colin is just the happiest baby around town - he is always smiling, and laughing. He loves to laugh at Sean especially. That's because Sean loves to get right in Colin's face and laugh at him! We still have to yell at lovingly remind Sean not to "love Colin to death".

"I Get Around" by the Beach Boys
could be Colin's new theme song. This boy can move! He is rolling, and scooting, and just getting around all over the place. He is never in the same place you leave him for very long. Too much to see, and too much to do/try to put in his mouth!
